A challenge-----

06/01/2012

I am issuing a challenge----to come join in the fun!----Sunday school, ladies trips, men's events, Sunday morning worship, bringing canned foods to give away, Wednesday evening Bible classes, invite a friend over, meet someone for dessert, help at Vacation Bible school, be a friend, be a part of the world around you, enrich your life by talking to people, spending some time with them, letting yourself thirst for God to meet you today. God has a series of adventures planned for us, way in advance. So don't get stuck in the same old semi-lonely existence.   God's people need your amazing self to shine and be an encouragement to them.  I challenge you-- and me---let's go for it!

Ladies Day Trip THIS Saturday June, 2nd
Our Women’s Council invites all women 16 and up to join them on a day trip to Cockrell! If you
haven’t heard about this place, here are a few details...

The main building is a 115-year-old general store just off U.S. 50 between Lee’s Summit
and Lone Jack. Other buildings include the Fiesta Cottage, devoted to vivid displays of
richly colored Fiesta dinnerware, and the Morton House, with clever bakeware and baking
supplies stacked floor to ceiling, including ingredients from King Arthur Flour. The Cockrell
Annex displays flowerpots, and the Cockrell Cottage has gift items, including a Vera Bradley
room.
IF you have never been here it is a great and fun place to visit and shop. We will meet at the church at 9:00 am and carpool there. After shopping we will eat at the Tea Room just a bit down the road. Please talk with Council leaders Rose Blaize or Becky Kresse for more information

Such passion!

05/30/2012

God has such a passion for us!  Every day He calls to us.  His Spirit speaks soft words of guidance and love.  He rejoices over us with singing!  Zeph 3. His desire is for us to be His people and He to be our God.  How could we be ho-hum about Someone like that?  He treasured us enough to give up what He valued most---His Son.  Let us rekindle a longing to be in His presence, enjoying the closeness of the One who is passionate about us.  "If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and we will fellowship together."  Rev. 3:20 (my paraphrase)  May we never be satisfied with anything less!

We praise God for all the selfless sailors, soldiers and airmen who "more than self their country loved and mercy more than life."   Let us use our blood-bought freedom to live and love and spread the good news of Jesus.  Let freedom ring!

We had more men join us for the men's breakfast than in any recent month!  LOTS of biscuits and gravy, a magnificent egg casserole, cinnamon monkey bread--and more. Thanks to Dan for the devotional. See you next month!

Life---Growth!

05/24/2012

FYI----we had over a hundred in worship last Sunday!   Holy Spirit pour down on us--more and more!

Men's breakfast

05/24/2012

Men's breakfast--this Saturday at 9 am at the church.  Make plans to join us for great food and fellowship!

The ladies had a great night out at RibCrib tonight!  The food and laughter were great---make sure and join them next time---a day trip to Cockrell on June 2, to an old fashioned general store complex near Lone Jack.

All things...

05/20/2012

Do you remember the Bible verse that says-----  Do everything without grumbling or arguing,  so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life. Phillipians 2.  I guess whining isn't a spiritual gift!   Let's relax and give in to the peaceful Holy Spirit who empowers us to live in love, joy, patience and peace.  Pray--yes.  Complain and fuss, no.

Progress!

05/15/2012

Hi friends!   We are making progress in our pastoral search.  We have narrowed the original field of candidates almost in half and are in the process of getting some detailed questions asked and answered from the remaining ones.  The board is using all it's years of wisdom, but is not depending on it---we are depending on the Holy Spirit to empower and enliven our mind, thoughts and decisions.  Please pray for the whole process to be in the middle of God's will. We are confident that our church will
